Vermont Communications Concepts mission is to bring wireless and broadband to underserved regions of Vermont. This region is significantly behind in both state and federal initiatives for wireless and broadband coverage. When factoring in the advent of the 4g network requirements of the new smartphones, and the push for additional coverage, there is demand for a completed statewide network on both the private and regulatory fronts. VCC has developed a plan than can address the need for more seamless coverage in high use corridors as well as new coverage for rural areas. Look for implementation of new projects in the coming year.

Our service model is a vertically integrated strategy designed to execute permmiting and construction at the fastest possible pace. By utilizing our combined expertise we have assembled a team that not only understands how the market has evolved and where it is today, but also where it needs to go. As residents of this region we all understand the needs, sensitivities and goals of both the consumers and the landowners of our communities. These factors allow us to work quickly and effectively to bring the services here in Vermont up to a national standard.
·Permitting With our strong background in commercial real estate development, we are intimately informed and experienced with the land use and construction permitting process. Together with what we consider to be the best land use legal team in Vermont, we are able to move through the process with great efficiency. ·Construction Having managed the construction of all of our current holdings (including a Helicopter access only site), we are able to work with a variety of sub-contractors to construct any number of tower types. We have experience in traditional, roof-top and stealth tower systems and how each can benefit a given location. We are also able to work with both the community as well as the engineers to identify the best possible design option for a given site. ·Site Management We currently manage multiple sites including a large capacity remote access site. We currently handle emergency technical evaluation, billing, signal monitoring and access maintenance. We will be adding technical engineers to our team for the purpose of these new holdings.

I propose that by 2010, Vermont be the nation’s first true "e-state"—the first state to provide universal cellular and broadband coverage everywhere and anywhere within its borders. When you turn on your laptop, you’re connected. When you hit the send button on your cell phone, the call goes through…. This goal is within our grasp if we move quickly and decisively during this legislative session. Unlike building more roads or bigger buildings to support growth, the commercial infrastructure of tomorrow will be almost invisible, but for a handful of towers and antennas.
Governor Jim Douglas, Inaugural Address, January 4, 2007

As illustrated over a third of the towns in Vermont have less than 50% of land area wireless coverage.

“In many places in Vermont, I hear from people who are extremely upset that in the year 2010, they still do not have the kind of high-speed broadband they need in order to function effectively in modern society. If we are successful in accomplishing what we all want, in a reasonable period of time Vermont will have high quality broadband service available to virtually every home and business in the state. This is great for our business climate, great for our schools and our students, and great for our larger institutions.”
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders
