One leading concept for the most Southerly part of the site is a new multi-modal transportation center. This would allow passengers at one location, to board CCTA buses, or regional commuter trains to and from Burlington. It could also service the current Amtrak route. The public space and Transportation Center would be a partnership with the village and the regional transportation authority.
There is signifigant support for this type of project on both the local, state and federal level. Seeing the creation of this center would once again put Essex Junction at the heart of Chittenden County transportation.

Renovate the Train Station
“Renovate the train station and a few blighted spots and everything else will improve.”

There is strong interest in renovating the train station despite a very discouraging comment towards the beginning of the forum about the challenges of doing so. One group suggests renovating the exterior to make it “look like a historic train station.” Like the green space strategy, this strategy also seems linked to the idea that improving the aesthetics of this part of town will be an important catalyst for increased community and business activity.
